True story: wifey got my Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 for the PS2 last month, and I'm hooked. I'm a sucker for wrestling games that allowed you to do so much. I've had Rick Rude as champ, Hell in the Cell matches... let me stop now. Thing is, I sometimes find myself not playing and just listening to the entrance themes. Batista and Randy Orton in particular have those hard rock tracks that, while I might not fuck with them on the regular, I like in that context. So, I decided tonight to find the full versions of their tracks, and realized that the last few compilations have had some shitty Hip-Hop themes done by some pretty well-known (at one time) artists. Don't believe me?

  • MVP's theme music? Silkk The Shocker "I'm Comin'": Is Silkk just that un-swagtastic of an MC that I had no idea he was the one on this track? I mean, I figured it was some random ass nigga... well, I guess Silkk fits that mold!
  • Mark Henry's theme music? Three Six Mafia "Somebody's Gonna Get It": I knew this, though. I figure the WWE grabbed Three Six after they blew up in the mainstream, and this is that crunk rock vibe you would expect. Only its very horrible. I like that "beat 'em up, beat 'em up", though.
  • Shane McMahon's theme music? Naughty By Nature "Here Comes The Money": What?!!?! Illtown's finest drops a funky one about, well, cash? Funny thing is, I'm surprised that Treach hasn't gotten in the squared circle; I'm also surprised that Vinny is rhyming! "She smell my cologne, its called brand new money!"

So, what's next? Skee-lo doing the next Cryme Tyme theme? That'd actually be iller than R-Truth's coonery, but I digress... at the end of the day, the WWE thinks they know, but they have no idea.

EDIT I know this is a WWE-specific post, but I needed to unleash Ron Simmons' WCW theme, which is just ridiculous. Those Public Enemy horns and that funky bass? priceless cheese:

And check 2 Cold Scorpio's promo video:
